Hey guys and gals need some opinions on what factory ammo to use for an upcoming Elk hunt. My fiancée shoots a Tika T3 3006 and is comfortable out to 300 yards any thoughts on a good factory load. She now shoots 180 grain Barnes tipped TSX BT which shoot very well for her.I read somewhere that round is more for thin skinned game. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check out HSM's offerings in 168, 185, and 210 Berger VLDs.

Will this be a Cow hunt or a Bull hunt? Either way, I don't see any problem with what she is using now. I personally use a Nosler Partition or Swift A-Frame bullet, but no need to buy other ammo than what you have. You would need to buy several boxes of different ammo to see what works in her rifle, then when you finally do find what shoots best, you will have to buy at least another box or two to take on the hunt. Why spend all that $$ when you already have an adequate load/bullet that works well?

Barnes fan here. TTSX are good flyers. I reload TSX and TTSX for all my N. American game animals.
