Introducing, The Cold Boar Muzzle Brake

Hello all,
Glad to be back poking about the forum for a little while, I've been extremely busy with school, work, and my new hobby.... machining!!

This project all started when I saw a gap in the muzzle brake market, every brake out there had some design aspect that just didn't seem conducive to maximum recoil reduction while still being pleasant to the shooter. I already knew I would like to get into machining and gunsmithing eventually, so I figured making muzzle brakes would be a great place to start. I studied different brakes from different manufacturers and eventually compiled all my data to design a muzzle brake that had all the features I wanted, and none that I didn't. My design goals were to have THE most effective brake on the market, while also being pleasant to the shooter in regards to the concussive blast. Based on my testing, I would say I have achieved my design goals. I am making a 3 port for firearms chambered in .223 rem -.308 win (should be extremely popular with the AR-15/10 crowd), a 4 port for .284 win -.300 WinMag, and a 5 port for any of the RUM or Lapua based cartridges on up. I am still working on the cosmetic side of things, but that is a minor issue now that I have the design down.


I did some recoil tests and took some slow-mo footage and put it into a short video demonstrating the recoil reduction capabilities of the Cold Boar Muzzle Brake.

Excellent job! Just curious if you tested a version with the largest port end threaded?

Are you looking to turn down the threaded end to be flush with the barrel or Are you leaving it as is? Interested when you get ready to start selling them. Always willing to help support a young entrepreneur.

The brake seems to be *very* effective. Like others, I'd be interested in test results from other manufacturers (using same methodology).

The back is usually turned down to .9" but i can make it larger/smaller to order.

I have done a litke testing against other brakes and my current design wasnt quite as good as them, mainly because they had greater total port volume than mine but that has been resolved.

If things go well i will have quite a surprise for you guys in the near future. There is a product out there that has a lot of potential but hasnt been marketed a ton and i hope to change that. More to come in the near future.
