300WM - How Easy is it to Reload?

I have never loaded any belted magnum. I am considering the 300 WinMag because the brass is far more available than that for a 300 RUM. How difficult is the 300WM to reload? I would plan on full length sizing (not just neck sizing). The case would be sized for a particular gun, and the shoulder pushed back just far enough to make sure that the bolt can easily close. I realize that this cartridge headspaces on the rim, but, by sizing it this way will the brass life & accuracy be increased?

BTW, I have allot of experience loading 308, so it's not like I have never reloaded before.

no different from .308. the 300 wm kick s more than a 7 . howeve r the 300 wm is more forgiving in finding a good load.

mmh, the 300 WM shoots the heavy Bergers very well. There are loads a plenty here on the forum. Good luck

By doing what you described then yes the brass life will be longer.

I've been using an additional die to reduce the case diameter just above the belt.

I just started loading for my .300wm. I collet sized my brass and will shoot it till my bolt starts to get a little tight, then set my fl die up with proper shoulder bump.

Lightly full length size, just enough to chamber without a lot of resistance.

These have been sized this way 7 times and i have very little case thinning .

Glad to see this. Just started reloading for this and it's the way I've been resizing also.

If this is the case, then reloading will be no different than for a beltless case. Good news!

I did not want to come right out and say it, but yes, from my research and understanding the case is headspaced off the belt when chambered. I bought a Lee Deluxe die set for the collet die. I chambered my once fired brass that was fired in my rifle, easy, peasy. I will collet size and shoot this brass till the bolt closure has resistance then I will full lenght size with no more then 2 thousandth shoulder bump. And this I believe is the best and accurate way for me.
