Good day to all. I am finally in the market of a custom rifle. I have looked at and read allot of reviews on custom gun makers. I have narrowed down to weaver custom rifles and Montour custom rifles to talk to about this build. Both seem to have top notch reviews and high rated customer reviews. In everyone thought and not trying to start anything by any means. Which would be a go to first. I'm wanting a 7mm weatherby built or 7mm wsm. I have already got a 7mm remington I'm just wanting something a little different. My shooting will not be past 800yds. My average being 20yds-500yds but I do hunt some bean fields. My bullet of choice is the 160gr speer btsp, 160gr sierra gameking btsp, or the 150gr gameking sierra btsp. I'm not going to hunting moose or anything just whitetail deer and some feral hogs, also some mule deer and antelope. My barrel I'm wanting to use is a Broughton barrel set at 27". Action I'm wanting to use is a defiance rebel or remington blue printed action with m16 style extractor. I'm wanting to use a mcmillan game scout edge stock. My scope will he a vortex. Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Kevin built me a 7mm/300 Win. (sheep rifle) Quality fit and accuracy are super. Its is built on a Blue printed Rem700 action, Brux barrel, piller bedded Hi Tech stock and Timney trigger.
He is a true craftsman and excellent to work with and talk to. You can't go wrong.

Should have said it was Weaver rifles (Kevin) in case some didn' t know who I was referring to. Sorry for the error. All the best.

weaver rifles built me a 300 wsm on a 700 action trued,pac-nor barrel,hi tech sheep hunter stock, jewel trigger. shoots great also a 280AI bartlein barrel, timney trigger, Pendleton stock, also shoots very well. both these rifles are just under 8# ready to hunt. will use him again in the future. very good to work with

Fmajor.

From what I remember and invoices about 5 months. I had seen and handled his rifles at the Wild Sheep Foundation (booth)

Thanks!

5 months seems very reasonable for a custom shootin' iron (especially from such a highly regarded 'smith).

He's local to me - I just gotta get my landscaping finished to free up some $ to make a visit!!!

I'm still in the dark on barrels. I'm looking at a Broughton highly but also brux, bartlein, and rock creek. What is the difference in cut rifled and pull button.

A cut barrel is rifled by a single point cutter which takes several passes and causes NO stress to the metal. A button rifled barrel has a carbide button pulled thru to swage the rifling into the bore. This may be a non professional way to explain it. So calling the barrel makers would give you proper answer. Both produce some very accurate barrels.

i currently have a rifle being built by Kevin. i asked him about instaslling a m16 style extractor and he said he was unable to install the. he only installs the sako style extractor. he has been really good to work with though. on month 11 hopefully soon ill be sending rounds down range.

Have a Kevin Weaver built rifle. It's a 300 rum built on a 1999 action. Has a 25 inch #2 contour pac nor barrel plus a muzzle break, with a high tech stock. Feel the fit and finish of the rifle is very nice. Mr. Weaver was extremely nice to deal with. Very pleasant answered emails very fast, always had time to talk to me before and after the sale. Will admit that I don't have the rifle shooting as well as I'd like, but not blaming anyone but my self as I have done very little load development, mostly just been doing the break. But if you want a nice rifle from a very nice guy, you can't go wrong with Mr. Weaver.

I ordered my barrel in November, then kevin emailed me when it came in then I sent my rifle to him. I think that was March roughly. And I got it back end of may or early june. This year. This is from Weaver rifles
