DNZ how high? Savage 10 Predator Hunter .243 w/ Sightron SIII

My .243 Winchester Savage 10 Predator Hunter just arrived. I went ahead and did some research and decided on a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 FFP Milhash scope (the other one in the running was a Vortex Viper PST but I digress). I wanted to get a DNZ GameReaper mount. I called the folks I bought the Sightron from and they suggested a High ring height and so I went with their suggestion. However I'm feeling a bit skeptical about the choice without having done the math.

The Sightron site has full specs on their scope including the outer diameter of the Objective Lens here Sightron Riflescopes SIII First Focal Plane SIIISS624X50LRFFP-MH. It appears to be 2.28" in diameter. Now I can't find the specs on the Savage anywhere.

Does anyone know how to do the rest of the math for this?

I called Deadnutz the last time I wanted to order a mount. I told them what scope I had and they told me what mount to order. They also can mill in 20 moa into the base for a charge.

Thanks. I'll ring them tomorrow. When I called them this afternoon I got a message saying they close at 3:30pm.

I emailed them last night. They replied in the morning and told me medium for 2.3" and under. They said worst case if I had butler caps and they didn't fit to just cut the caps.

How necessary is 20MOA cant?

It depends on how much internal adjustment in the turret of your scope. I shoot a Sightron II with 80 moa of internal adjustment. I think with my zero set at 250 yards, I have about 36 moa up. That should get me out to 1300 yards.

I just bought one without the 20 moa milled into it. I figured if it didn't do what I wanted for range shooting, I would send it back in to DNZ to mill in 20 moa later.

You should have plenty of up adjustment in your Sightron III.

I was just thinking about this some more. I think if are going to mill however you need higher rings. 20 MOA drops the bell by something like .89mm if I'm not mistaken. Even if I'm off you can't be that close and get your mount milled.

You are probably right. With a .243, I believe you will have plenty of adjustment in your scope without a 20 moa ramp.
If you are interested in a 20 moa, looks like another email is in order.
