I'm wondering which scope to get my 3 choices are:
1.) ATACR 5-25x56 SFP-(aprox $2400 new, maybe $2000 used)
2.) ATACR 5-25x56 F1 $2800 new
3.) KAHLES 624i 6-24x56 (its FFP) $2800 new

I CURRENTLY HAVE A SWAROVSKI 2.5-15X56 Z6, IT DOES NOT HAVE TURRET FOR ELEVATION. I COULD ADD IT FOR $200. IT IS PLEX RETICLE.

THIS WILL BE GOING ON MY 270wsm. I DON'T CURRENTLY DO ANY MATCHES OR SHOOTING COMPETITION. THIS WILL FOR NOW BE A RIFLE NEEDED ON MY YEARLY HUNT OUT IN KANSAS FOR WHITETAILS. I CURRENTLY HAVE A SPOT THAT LIKE LAST YEAR WAS 170 YARD SHOT AT A VERY NICE 10 PT THAT MY Z6 HANDLED VERY WELL IN. MY PROBLEMS IS THE TERRAIN IS VERY OPEN AND I COULD EASILY BE POSED WITH A SHOT OF 400, 500, 600 YARDS OR MORE AT A TROPHY ANIMAL.

I DON'T WANT TO HAVE LESS THAN THE 56 OBJECTIVE AS MOST SHOTS ARE AND COULD BE LOW LIGHT SO I WANT AS MUCH LIGHT GATHERING AS POSSIBLE. I ALSO KNOW THAT THE 25X IS PROBABLY MORE THAN I NEED BUT FEEL FOR ANIMAL IDENTIFICATION AND POSSIBLE BRANCHES IN VIEW TO SEE MORE MAG IS BETTER.

MY REAL QUESTION IS THIS I KEEP GOING BACK AND FOURTH FROM INPUT ON SEVERAL MEMBERS HERE ON FFP OR SFP FOR MY NEEDS. I'M SET ON GETTING MIL/MIL I FEEL ITS JUST EASIER SYSTEM TO ME. I FEEL LIKE OVERALL I WOULD RATHER HAVE FFP BUT IF I CAN GET AN ATACR USED AT ABOUT $2100 OR SO IS 700$ MORE REALLY WORTH IT TO HAVE THE F1 OR A KAHLES???

I'M NOT CONVINCED THAT IF I GET A TURRET ADDED ON MY Z6 THAT IT WILL TRACK AS WELL AS THE OTHER SCOPES MENTIONED. I ALSO WOULD STILL HAVE RETICLE PROBLEMS FOR WIND HOLDS. ALSO IT WILL LIMIT ME TO 4.6 MILS OF ELEVATION.

AND I DONT WANT ANY DOWNGRADE IN GLASS SO I'M NOT REALLY CONSIDERING THE NXS LINE AT THIS POINT ITS MORE OF AN ALL OR NOTHING DEAL I GUESS IT I SELL THE Z6 AND GET ONE OF THE 3 MENTIONED.

ANY INPUT BE GREAT. THANKS FOR THE TIME.

If we can be of any help answering any questions on Kahles, just send a PM. We feel that the Kahles rifle scopes hold nothing back and are second to no other optic currently being produced. The 2015 K624i is now getting 95.2% light transmission, which is huge! And we also have outstandingly good resolution to go along with it. We know you'll be impressed with the Kahles if you decide to go with that choice, it is truly an amazing rifle scope.

I love my Khales 6-24. This is my first FFP scope and I like it. I was afraid I wouldn't, and spending that much money for a scope always makes one hesitate.

That being said, I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the scopes you are considering.

well i'm getting a little closer to decision.

i was not aware until another member posted to me that i could have swaro change out my reticle from plex to 4w. this was one of my biggest hangups for wanting different scope cause even if i had added the elevation turret i was kind of screwed with a wind hold with just plane reticle.

i called and it would be $200 for elevation turret, and $175 to switch the reticle to 4W. the 4W has subtenstions for wind at 2moa for each hash. so the only downside is elevation will be in mils, reticle wind be in moa. but i was able to have my shooter app have elevation in mils and wind in moa so its not the end of the world. only other possible downside is i'll be in SFP but at 15x i prob be full power for long shots anyway so won't matter.

so for about $400 i be good out to 800 yards with scope mechanics. might do the trick for now.

All those scopes are overkill for what your doing, and out pace your cartridge

you are correct, do you have another idea i haven't thought of for what i want to do??

shoot to 1000 yards, 56mm bell (want lots of light in for low light performance), good to great glass. that my check list really and it seems to lead me in those choices even though your right its overkill.

for instance i would do the atacr 4-16x42 but i want at least 50 or 56 objective not 42

it sounded like you where not pushing the 1000 mark.Scope you have is fine my buddy dials his Swaro with success. Those scopes you are looking at are huge compared to what you have in size and weight

well thats good to know, what swaro does he have? and he can dial out to 1000 yards??

if so thats great makes my decision easier i think to just keep what i have and add elevation turret for sure and maybe switch the reticle.

what reticle does he have for it??

thanks for the time.
