My fiancé want to shoot a goat I want a good place
I have hunted them a few times
I want a better goat myself but more important I want a good one for her.

There are a few zones in Nevada that can be had with a couple points that hold some great goats. I'd look into those. Wyoming has sleeper units too but they will take a few points as well. New Mexico has some monster opportunity as well. Utah is not nearly as good and The west coast states will take a quarter of your life to draw. I don't know much about Colorado or Arizona. I have seen some monsters in the northwest corner of Colorado.-------SS

Red Dessert SW WY. They are there

One of my favorite places-I've chased the little beggars Nevada to Alberta. Nevada has fewer animals than Wyoming, but a greater per centage seem to be quality.

I shot poorly in Nevada, and missed my chance at a world beater. So I always see that buck when talking antelope.

Anywhere you go you're up against, an ever increasing demand for tags, and in many cases those numbers are down sharply. Or you go with the guided/landowner option, and those same dynamics reduce the wait, but sharply increase the cost.

Like the man said - Wyoming .....

North West Colorado has some good goats. I haven't hunted it for about 4 years but private property tags were easy to draw (at least for a resident) and getting permision wasn't hard. Last time my father-in-law and i went we had permision to hunt over 1200 acers in a afternoon of knocking on doors.

The gentlemen I host every year never have issues drawing a tag. With that being said, the quality of animal really depends on where you go. There are a metric sh#t ton of goats here in NE-WYO however, nothing that I would call a monster. I'm sure they're out there but they are few & far between.

As for specifically where, my back yard usually does nicely :D I wouldn't even have to get out of my PJ's (If I actually wore them), all of 15yds.

+1 New Mexico and Wyoming are both great Tony will tell you where. I like Mick Chapel at New Mexico trophy outfitters as well. I have always been told that your chances of getting to 17" are better in New Mexico. I hear Arizona is fantastic but getting tags is a challenge.

Good luck and shoot straight

Bob
