sorry for my English.

now I have a browning bar 338 wm but I want to buy a rifle bolt for more accurate long shots.
I have a limit of about 700 yards so I would stick with the 338 wm.

I thought a browning x bolt stainless stalker 338 wm, 26-inch barrel.
in 1200 dollars I think is the best option.

I want a rifle as accurate as possible with my budget.

What do you think?. You will much recoil?

regards

Welcome, what size animals will you be hunting? For out to 700 yards on medium-big game a 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag are hard to beat. I personally want to get a 338 WM barrel for my 7mm RM in case I ever make it to Alaska and might have to deal with a bear. Otherwise the 7 mag does anything I need to out to ranges I will shoot

I have owned your rifle and still have a 7mm mag in the same rifle. There will be a lot more recoil than your BAR. For the money of the Xbolt I would look at the Savage Line. LRH with the brake will reduce recoil quite a bit. I too would opt for the 300 win mag or 300 short mag over the 338. It depends on if you reload or not. Im looking at the same rifles right now. I have herd some great things about the Savage FCP as well. If I was only shooting deer size game or paper to 800 the 7mm is also a very good round.

I've shot my stepdad's 338 WM in the exact set up you are looking at: X Bolt Stainless Stalker. It shoots really well with factory ammo and would likely do better if he reloaded. The recoil is stout, but I don't find it overly offensive. I think the X Bolt recoil pad is a great design.

the largest animal is here to hunt deer, 600ib..

I still do not reloading. I'm learning.

if I change will be in 7mm caliber.

300 wm have a similar recoil to 338 wm

I do not know what to do.

The 7mm Rem Mag is a fantastic long range deer cartridge. Not sure how common they are where you live. I'd say it is probably ideal for what you want to do.

the largest animal is here to hunt deer, 600ib.. (Those are big/heavy deer, even for an average elk in the US; they must be moose. :))

I still do not reloading. I'm learning. (Reloading will give you flexibility to customize your loads)

if I change will be in 7mm caliber. (Another good caliber/chambering.)

300 wm have a similar recoil to 338 wm (Felt recoil is relative to shooter's sensitivity, rifle weight, bullet weight/load, etc ... it's not for everybody but an effective muzzle brake is the best to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise/fall.)

I do not know what to do. (I don't think it's going to be your last. :D )

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the .338 Win Mag and is very capable for your intended purpose. I shoot both chamberings but the .300 Win Mag (I have 3 of them) is my go to chambering. As others has noted, I too would go with the .300 Win Mag given the choice, esp. when loaded with the high BC VLDs 210s, 215s, or even the 230s.

Having said that, go with the chambering that provides you with the best local support (bullets, brass, powder, etc ...).

Good luck and happy safe shooting/hunting.

thank you very much everyone for your help.

I will try to shoot with a rifle bolt light as x bolt in 338 wm y 300 wm, how it feels to have recoil. so I can decide.

have if I find someone to let me try
