I am curious to know if anybody has this scope and if it is clear enough to shoot out to 800 yards? I really like the scope but cant look through it past 100 yards in the store any help would be great!

I've got two of them they work well shooting out to 800 shouldnt be an issue. A helluva lot of scope for the money if you ask me.

Was also looking at this scope . could you give us a more in depth review on your personal opinion on it? Like how does it track edge to edge clarity and so on.

Looking through alot of scopes certainly doesn't make me an optics expert, but the scope clarity is great and I've hunted coyotes with one in fading and early light and never felt under scoped.
As far as tracking the two I have are spot on both endured a tall target test and have worked flawlessly in the field.

Are there better scopes certainly are there better scopes for the money ...I haven't seen one.

Tracks excellent! Clarity on these newer optics is on par with the high end stuff of years past, imo. The reticle is one of my favorites and the 44mm obj. Really fits guns with a smaller profile. The 50's look better on like a sendero profile. I don't notice any difference between the 44 and 50 as far as light transmission. You get 1/4moa elevation (hs-lr is 1/2moa) and a zero stop. Windage is exposed 1/4moa which for a hunting rifle I'm not overly fond of. Again clarity is excellent and I've shot to 890 with mine. It's good enough for hunting but that distance is starting to push the max of the 16x for really precision work. I prefer it over the pst because of it doesn't have that awful illum adjustment in the way. Saves a little weight too.

As was mentioned you are getting a lot of features at the price point. A better reticle and better elevation adj vs the hs-lr. The zero stop is easy to use and functional/necessary. The turrets aren't too tall and have very tactile clicks. Direction arrows on the base of the turrets are nice too. A small fiber optic pipe on top of the elevation, at zero makes quick reference a breeze. They are relatively light at 20ish oz the overall length is not obnoxiously long either. You get lots of elevation adjustment with marked revolution indicators on the turret so you know how far you've gone with the ability to go right back to zero.

For me they beat the leupold on features and are every bit as clear to my eye. Personally I've seen lots of trouble with the leupolds. Just my own experience. I do like the leupold in that they are lighter and have a nicer profile (on comparible models) for hunting. Leupolds are good clear US scopes though and lots of people have good luck with them. At comparible price points the vortex has features that I prefer.

The eye relief on the vortex, for me is a little finicky but that's my own issue
I wish vortex would cull the HS-LR from the line up and offer the hs-t simply as a 50mm with reticle options to the consumer (VMR/dead-hold/etc). Also with the option to go to 1/2 MOA elevation and capped windage option. To me this would alleviate confusion and an overlapping line up. Just use one tube with a few design changes to have adaptive consumer options

A good option too is the Hs-lr with the dead hold reticle then you could have vortex install 1/4moa adjustments for $75

If you are interested in either I have a hs-t 4-16x44 and an hs-lr 4-16x50 bdc both MOA and both NIB. I'd make you a good deal on either or both.

The ffp xlr reticle in the hs lr is so much better they will get rid of the dead hold crap before the xlr. Look at the razor2 they are using the modified xlr and people it. What they need to do is have a hslr with razor glass. I would rather have the 1/2 moa turrets 24 moa per rev is fast and if you can shoot the difference camp Perry is calling your name.

Have had multiple both the 4-16 and the 6-24 IMO the 4-16 has a very finicky eye box above 12 pwr and clarity in low light on all three 16 pwr scopes was poor. The two 6-24's however have been very good, both clarity and eye box.

I dont like ffp. also and i dont mean to start anything by this but 1/4 moa is what i need id go smaller if the offered it and honestly if im dialing turrets on a long shot im not in a hurry anyway.

for hunting speed is not a factor i shoot comps also thats where the speed comes from my perspective. not worrying about what power i am on makes the ffp better for me. Maybe some day i will be good enough to shoot that difference of the 1/4 and 1/2 but if it falls in between i just hold it and staying moa to 1000 is good enough as i dont shoot bench rest. I think night force has 1/8 in their benchrest scopes if you want finer.

yeah im not shooting competition just hunting and fun. trust me if i could afford a nightfocre there wouldnt be a question what id get. im considering the shv but its a little more than i want to spend and capped turrets but its crystal clear and i love the moar reticle

While not exact the VMR reticle in the HST is pretty similar. If you go to the shv price range you should look at the Burris xtr II with their scr reticle. Very nice optic in the same price range but with more features over the shv, and a really similar reticle to the moar. If I got an shv it would be the exclusive EOL model that Bob offers!
