Superformance in .243

Is anyone loading Hodgdon Superformance in a .243 and 100 -115 grain bullets? If so please share your experience.

I know this is not what you were looking for but the superformance powder was to slow and did not produce good velocities in some of the lighter weight bullets. The 115 might be a different story. A long time ago there was a tread about someone checking out the powder with a 243. The listed a lot of different loads but I don't recall any at the 115 grain. It was mainly 90 to 105 grains. So it might work on the on the heavy 115. good luck

Seems Superformance and H4831sc are almost identical in burn rates. I'd start with 4831sc load data but like my post above, there doesn't seem to be much out there. I did find one post where a guy said his gun grouped good at 44 grains of 4831sc and 2990 out of a 27" tube.

I don't know if you already checked but Hodgdon only lists loads for 65 to 80 grain bullets for the 243 and superformance powder.

Yep, that is what I was going to say. Bought a bunch of it thinking it would work in place of other powders near it in the burn rate chart. It only seems to work in the loads that they recommend it for. Outside of that it does not do so well. I have had more disappointment with it than victory.

I just range tested the 7mm-08 Hornady Superformance 139gn SST factory load and it gave precisely the specified mv and at a lower measured chamber pressure than other comparable loads. As you can see from the uploaded pdf, the mv is significantly higher than a comparable handload, while the pressure is lower.

I have only tried up to 90gr bullets, but it is some weird stuff (Superformance powder). I never was able to put enough in to find pressure signs. I'm away from my notebook, but I believe I went up to 49gr. I was wondering myself how it would do behind a 105gr bullet, but I use H1000 for that and it is great in my rifle.

I use Superformance with the 80 grain Hammer but think it's too fast for the heavier 100 grain and up bullets. If you are looking for speed try Reloder 26. I drove Berger 105's to 3,400fps somewhere in the 47+ grain range
