338 lapua 30" barrel

I am building a new 338. And I was thinking about going with the edge, but I am now thinking going lapua or lapua ackley improved for better brass. If I can get the velocity that I want out of the standard than I will go that route. What kind of velocity can I expect out of a standard 338 lapua with a 30" barrel?

I would go with the 338 lapua ai with bore right throat.. talk to dave at pacific tool velocity with rl33 30" ai bore right should be about 2950 300 grain. The bore rite throat is better design than the +p on the 338 edge. 338 lapua is better brass. plus less box issues shorter o.a.l

standard 338 lapua 30 " rl 33 about 2825 fps. pushed hard give or take 25 fps

Magazine feeding is not an issue as this gun is being built as a single shot. If i can get 2800fps out of the standard lapua without pushing it to hard, that is all I need.

you for sure will get that with the bore write throat it will also have better accuracy higher velocity and less throat erosion by using bore right throat

You will get that with a 30" barrel and that standard Lapua for sure.
