What would you guys say is a good chronograph that will work on cloudy days or late in the day when you don't have direct sunlight? I have one that works good but I don't remember the model. It only works when the suns bright.

i have a caldwell ballistic chronograph that i got from midway. It is the deluxe kit with led light bars and it also comes with the sky screens. the light bars make it possible to use the chronograph in low light. it was nearly dark and barely able to see the target and i was still getting accurate readings from the chronograph. would be usefull if you do indoor shooting as well. you can connect your android or apple device to it and save your data for building drop charts. I have a Ohler 35 p that works great and have never had problems with cloudy days.

It is a very accurate chronograph but can be difficult to set up at a busy range, So I bough a Magneto Speed chronograph and it is not effected by sunlight and can be set up on the rifle without going in front of the firing line and can be shot in the dark if needed. hear is a link for it. =

I have had great luck with my Oehler 35P as well
I have the leads color coded with colored electrical tape and the sensors are mounted on a 4' piece of aluminum which is mounted onto a surveyors tripod, this takes 2 minutes to set up, only assemble is plug 3 leads into the unit and set the tripod, I could remove the screens if needed but all should fit into a car seat

+1 on the Magneto Speed!!!

I own a Oehler p-35 and never had a issue with it ,and just ordered the new Labrader ,because of the set up convenience if you go to a shooting range.

Now that I own both the 35P and the Magneto speed I find advantages in both and use both.

I like the accuracy of the 35P and the fact that It prints on site helps when working up loads.
Not being able to go down range until the firing line is clear slows the process down. I have started to buy the lab model many times because of its quality, but price cooled my thoughts.

The Magneto Speed is very handy and can be placed on a rifle, pistol and a shot gun (Some say they use there's for there bows and attach it to there stabilizer, But I have not tried that)

The accuracy compare's to the 35p, so I have faith it is accurate.

If I could only have/afford one, I would probably have the Magneto Speed for its convenience and versatility.

Just My opinion

I recently got the MagneetSpeed V3 and agree with everyone else. It's every bit as good as people say and perfect for the range when you cant go out and set up 10 feet in front of your bench with a traditional Chronograph.

Been happy with my Magneto speed. Fast easy set up. Don't have to step on the other side of the firing line at a range. Easily readable screen right in front of you.
Does NOT do slide actions.

Just curious, Why doesn't the Magneto Speed do slide actions ?

I haven't tried one, but I'm sure I will someday.

It's because of the way the MagneetoSpeed attaches to the barrel. It attaches via a velcro strap that wraps around the barrel and is attached to a bottom base for support. The action of the slide moving while fired would nor function well with the way the magneetSpeed is attached.
