I just got back from coyote calling with Tim Titus (NOS No Off Season). These trips have become more pilgrimages than hunts to me. Something about the high desert regardless of time of year, that's just good for the soul.

We added some night calls this trip, and its been way to long since I've seen the night sky the way it's supposed to look. Sharing space with Orion, the hunter in the sky, us hunting on the ground. Orion's always a good caution about greed and arrogance, going to put every animal on earth in the record books, but laid low by an insect.

America the beautiful first lyric "Oh beautiful for spacious skies" likely inspired by the authors train trip across the west.

If you don't have a Harney County in your life, you're missing the good stuff.

Oh yeah, we got a couple of coyotes as well!

May God shed his grace on thee!

Easy to fall in love with Harney County isn't it? I've hunted antelope on Steens a couple times over the years and hope to visit there next year again.

The stars from the mountain at night can be incredible. I have been wanting to visit the Harney County Fair in Burns someday. That has to be a hoot.

Thanks for stirring the memories for me. :)

I believe so.

I live in Harney County. Have had the pleasure of getting to know Tod a little bit over the past several years. Nice guy. If Tim is the same caliber, and I would bet he is, you've got a great friend and I'll bet you guys have a lot of fun. Have a nice evening.

I believe so.

Uncertain why I responded this vague. Better answer is yes. We shot rats out of one of his pivots, and I broke the chain on one of his gongs. His son Gus is mounting a life size coyote for me. A great group of people for sure.

I go over to Harney county to hunt coyotes. I can never get over there enough. Going again in 2 weeks. Made some great friends with the ranch owners.
