The question specifically asked about the "next" rifle -- well, mine will be a 260 AI. Just waiting on the Krieger barrel and McMillan stock, everything else is here. Also toying with the idea of a short, lightweight custom 338 RCM for up close and moderate range range.

I love my 277 AM, but did not consider the fact that my source of heavy-for-caliber bullets would dry up someday. I didn't stock enough of the 169.5 & 195 wildcats. It's a mistake I can't afford again. When I burn this barrel up, I will stick with the 338 Lapua parent case and have Kirby spin on a 338 Lapua or a 30 Lapua.

I voted for the 300RUM only by default. I am a huge fan of the 7mm STW and have been for years but I haved owned a 300 RUm and felt it was quite a nice hunting firearm. the weatherby bug got me and I traded for a 30-378. Love the gun, hate the cost of brass!!! By the way what is a 7AM?

I'm building two rifles.

1. A 6mm-06 on a Mauser action, 26" barrel medium sporter weight for pronghorn

2. A 8mm Rem. Mag. built on a Rem 700 action 28" medium heavy barrel. Designed for 220gr. bullets for long range elk.

I am a rifle crank and the sad thing is that these two could cover all of North America's hunting, but that would be no fun.

Just sold my 7mm wsm self built from 7mm saum in Model 7..Definitely doing another,,but my new gig is 22 magnums, pocket full of ammo for 9 bucks and kills just about anything on the street. What a wicked little round.

6.5 CPG(Cloud Peak Gunworks). The Gunsmith's name is Trevor Rosencranse. He lives in Basin Wyo. Trevor is the Best of the West's gun smith. He can be reached at 307-568-3009. The cartridge is based on the .280 Ackley case. It should be an excellant long range round with 140 gr. berger vld. I'm really looking forward to shooting it.

Doesn't say anything about long range pistol game get'r, for bear I use a 45/70 super 16 Contender, back up is a Competitor in 300WBY Mag cal, Deer a 7-08 xp-100 back up is ruger 10.5 barrel in 44:)

None of the above, 6.5 x 47 lapua. You might think it underpowered by comparisom but has plenty enough to do deer out a long way without detaching my retenias and accuraccy in spades

It aint what you hit em with it's were you hit them

Why no 7mmSTW?It will out shoot the 7mag,takes more powder to do it,but I can get a good 200fps over it with the 7mmSTW.I don't think I can get 200fps over the 7mmSTW with the 7RUM,so I think the 7mmSTW is more powder efficient and a better choice.Long live the 7mmSTW!!!!!

Again, none of the above. I just got a beautiful little Husqvarna mod 46 sporter in 9.3x57,vintage 1929. I am likeing older guns in vintage calibers. This is basically a Model 96 Swedish Mauser, but factory built as a sporter.

For modern I have on order an upper for my Colt sporter in 6.5 Grendel. Dies are already here as well as bullets, Brass both some factory Lapua and some IMI 7.62x39 for forming are on the way.
