How old and why ?

Is this the std grade of glass? What were they used for ? Sorry for all the Q marks , but hey ! it is two grand .

One more Q, are you the original owner ? Can this be documented through US OPTICS ?

I am the original owner of both of them. Yes, this can be documented at US Optics. Warranty is fully transferable into the next owners name.
35mm tube purchased Sept 2004
30mm tube purchased Mar 2005
It is the standard grade of glass. The higher resolution glass grades are for night vision equipment. You will not see a difference during daytime use.
One scope was used on a .308 for long range shooting.
One scope was used on a .338 Lapua for long range shooting.
Both scopes have been very well taken care of (like new).
Both scopes performed and still perform flawlessly.
