I assume that you have seen the batch on GunBroker including the Deerfield model which is clip fed and built on the Mini-14 action. Looks like the price will go around $850 to $1200 and that is why I bought a Rossi 92 in 44 Mag. A little cleaning up and you have one slick rifle.

I have a little lever action ruger 44 mag and really like it. Short and light. Don't want to sell it but it may be something you want to look into if they are a little cheaper.
