To the OP.... I'd take a hard look at the new Savage 11 Lightweight Hunter in 308. It's really light at 5.5 pounds, has a nicely finished wood stock thats extensively lightened, accutrigger and box magazine. Its black wrinkle finished, a very handsome lightweight rifle. I have one with Talley one piece rings and a Vortes PST 4.5=16 SFP and I couldn't be happier with it.
