I don't have a device to attach to a scope to capture a good image of what I'm seeing. This is a scope that arrived this afternoon. These pics were captured with me holding an iPhone by hand. There is a black glob or something that can be seen on low power. If you rotate the scope in your hand the aberration moves with the direction of the scope. When you turn to high power you no longer see it, but the edge where it was is not clear. Take a look at the sunshade that was packaged with it. One thing is for certain the give-a-crap factor by the person who inspected & sent this is zero. I'm keeping names out of this. I'll work it out. I would like to know what would cause what I described.
Thanks,

I have had black particulates/flakes on the inside the tube of a Steiner scope before. During recoil they would stick to the lenses and become visible. That is my only suggestion.

This was bought as a demo & as brand new. I would like to know because this brand has been good to me. I believe the company I purchased from will work it out with me. It blew me away seeing the sunshade that was packaged with it.
Thanks

They should take care of you, unless of course its Steiner, then good luck (I'm not bitter or anything). The sunshade is appalling though, I would categorize that as willful negligence. I know some scope coatings can look bad if you run a finger nail over them or something, then it just rubs right off, but nothing that bad.
