I have a 1:8 twist 22-250 and wanted to try some 88gr eld-x bullets with rl26 powder. The issue I'm having is all loads have ejector swipes, so I'm wondering if this is a valid way to tell over pressure? I'm not knocking out primers or having hard bolt lift.

Attached is the target i shot, and a picture of all the brass. The brass is left to right lowest to highest which is black at 39gr. (37.2, 37.6, 38, 38.4, 38.8, 39) I colored it black to see if ejector swipes would show up more.

What are your opinions, should i stick with 37.2 and call it a day? That would probably be the smart choice, but boy 39g was fast and accurate! :)

What velocity are you running? What length barrel? New brass or fired? If fired, was it fired in your rifle?

I have a 1-7 twist 22-250 that was throated for 95gr SMK and i settled at 37.8 of RL26.
I ladder tested all the way up to 39.5 (@ 3180 fps) and stopped at first sign of stiff bolt. I was also using Winchester Brass. What Primers are you using?

wlr primers. seated .020" off the lands. i'm gonna load up 10 or 20 at the 37.2 load and see how they work out. its just shy of 3000fps and almost ballistically identical to my 30-06.

Just an opinion that opening up your groups to 5 shots would help determine your choice much more accurately.
