I was looking for a cartrige that had all the atributes of what I was looking for and be able to push the 180vlds to 3000 without any pressure signs (was really wanting 3100fps) you can do 3000fps with any of the origional posts cartriges but you are really pushing it with the 7rem mag, 7wsm, and 7 saum. Then you have the 7 dakota, it will do exactly what both of us want yet here is the catch, it uses a non standard .545 bolt face off the parent 404 jeffery case so that didnt appeal to me along with the exprbanantly high priced dies and brass from dakota. then the 7stw, 7/300 win and there is the shorter neck and the belt of these two that is unapealing to me and some say (again not starting an argument) less inherantly accurate. then there is the beltless 7Rum and it was just too dam big and I feel too much for my liking just as the OP had stated. So then there was the other wildcats and i was too hesitant to pull the trigger on that endevour. Then after some more research I found that Gunwerks had made a new cartrige called the 7LRM (Long Range Magnum) and will have brass and dies in febuary or march of this year at a very reasonable price. Brass at ~$1.25 a piece and hornady comp dies at ~$75 a set. The 7LRM is for basic terms a 375 ruger necked down to 7mm with the shoulder pushed back and a LONG neck (which almost everyone says is better for accuracy than a short neck like the 7wsm) This cartrige uses a standard .535 magnum bolt face and will feed out of a standard 300 win mag magazine no problem. It will feed with 180gr vlds seated at the neck shoulder junction. THis will also push the 180's to an easy 3100fps. so this is what I am going to do and here is my insight. I honestly cant see any of the other cartriges being a better fit for what you described.

oh and you dont have to buy a gunwerks gun to do this either. [QUOTE="midnightmalloy, post: 596563, member: 25605"] ah I have done this in the recent past and I will add what I found in my research.
