What's your elk rifle?

Remington 700 stainless 7mm. With a H-S Precision stock, Timmney trigger, Vortex viper HS LR 4-16x50 scope. I shoot 160 gr accubonds that I reload. It shoots a little over a half inch groop at 100 yards. It's my go to gun:)

if I get lucky and draw in PA, my Rem model 7 350 Rem mag w/ 22" Shilen barrel or my Rem 700 338/06 22" pacnor McMillan mountain rifle

I'll stay with my classic Pre '64 70 , 26" bbl, in 300 H&H w/ 200 gr partitions at about 2800 fps. I have several others, 300 Win Mag, 338-378 KT (ouch) and 375 H&H. But I always go back to the 70.

Sako TRG with 20" barrel in 308. Topped with a 3-12 scope and when legal a suppressor on the barrel. Push 200gr SGK at 2575fps with good results. At elk altitudes, 1500 ft pounds to beyond 650 yards. I get to shoot it regularly and am confident with the rifle.

300WM, NF 5.5-22x56 NSX NPR2, 200gr Barnes LRX, Rem700, custom accuracy tune up, jewel trigger, 26" Krieger barrel, Grunning Precision 34 MOA base, Grunning Precision Rings, Angle Cosine. Gr7BR2 rangefinder, Leica Giovid 15x56 RF binoculars. Custom tripod with rifle saddle, Camelback 2000 backpack.
Rifle Come ups to 1200 meters.

68 years young. Drew Anterless Elk Tag for Gordon Creek, Price, Utah Nov26, 2014 to Jan 16. 2015

I've had great success in Utah. I'm already training carrying 50lb pack for 3 miles 4 times a week in the back country here in Alpine, Calif. (East of San Diego)

Ruger M77 ss boat paddle stock in .338, topped with a VX6-3-18. TTSX 210 in front of 76 gn of Hunter powder and federal 215gm primers.

30/378 Weatherby mag, stainless, bedded, timney trigger, HS stock, Talley rings, Nikon Monarch 30 mm scope, Berger 210 VLD (but really want to try the 215 Berger some time) Holland can't level and lots of meat in the freezer. Back up is .270 Weatherby mag set up same as above except B&C stock and 150 Berger VLD bullet. In my mid 60's and this works for me. This fall is my 13th consecutive year drawn for elk. But Karma tells me I am doomed to buying my turkey since experiencing a 7 year drought for a turkey tag.

My old go to was a 300 win mag but I just purchased a new model 70 300 wsm that I am excited to use. Still trying to determine what load and bullet choice. I'm thinking 180 grain Nossler Accubonds.

Tikka T3 Lite in .300 WSM, Mini-mag Muscle Brake, Karsten cheek riser and Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 SFP. I modded the bolt stop and run the 168 grain TTSX 20 thousandths off the lands.

My biggest Rifle is a Rifle given to me by my Grandmother a Model 70 made in 1939 in 300 H & H, I use to use it for bear hunting with a 1.75 x 5 power Burris but last year I put a 3.5 x10 40mm Leupold VX-3 CDS. It's a MOA Rifle with Nosler Partations 180gr. I will say a 180gr bullet at 3000 FPS is all the recoil I care for. 20 rounds I'm done. I do shoot it well as I believe the Model 70 trigger is better than my Remington 700's.
