Another thread going now inspired me to ask What did you screw up (gun related preferably) today/this week? It's easy for somebody brand new to get on here and think the folks on here with all the awesome advice have it all figured out and don't screw things up. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I do something really stupid pretty frequently...we just don't always broadcast our failures. So here's mine. I turn necks on my lathe, and call me lazy, but its quicker to just turn down a new mandrel every time in the 3 jaw, vs swapping over to the 4 jaw and dialing it in. So today I snuck home early and chucked up the stock, turned it down nailed my dimension perfectly. But when I chamfered the end I somehow raised a burr that I didn't notice. I checked it with a piece of brass that seemed to go on with just the right tension so I got busy turning necks. Got 5 done before I bothered inspecting and realized that burr had scraped metal off the inside of the neck...ugh. thankfully I only lost 5 cases to this stupidity.
