The 300 RUM has enough powder capcity to take advantage of the heavier wieghts in 30 Cal. I am building a 300 RUM with a 30" ABS barrel 1 in 8 twist to shoot the Wildcat 265 grain ULD bullets. With a slow burning powder such as WC-872 or Hogdons US 869 I will be able to reach speed of 3000+FPS and have a bullet with a BC of .7 to .8 A heavy wieght such as this will have a tremdous impact potential when it encounters a game animal results should be spectacular.. I would not consider any thing less than 180 grains in a 300 RUM......
