[QUOTE="sambo3006, post: 453142, member: 2740"] I'm considering a build for an elk rifle and I'm looking at the 300 Weatherby. I already have a 300 RUM but it is a little heavy for me at 15 lbs. I'd like to shoot the 200 gr Accubond and I'm hoping that I could get 3100 fps with the 300 Wby out of a 28" barrel without running my brass too hard. The rifle would be set up with an extended box mag to take full advantage of the case capacity. Is this too optimistic? I'm sure 3000 fps would be easily obtained. I'm thinking long run on the chambering. If I decide to sell this rifle in 10 years, don't know if the RUM will still be popular or easily obtainable brass and ammo but the Weatherby is well established and has a pretty good powder capacity.
