[QUOTE="budlight, post: 541916, member: 2939"] My Rem is a 26 inch 9 1/4 twist. 243's with short barrels might get away with fast powders like r-17. I couldn't even use R-17 to get high speed with 70 grainers. I choose 100 boat tails and just concentrated on them. .430 BC which is better than the flat based 105's The two Hodgdon superperformance powders h-100V and Superperformance can exceed 3200 fps. Ramshot Hunter is nice fine ball powder also exceeding 3200 fps. I also tried r-22 and imr 7828 ssc. But they seemed to have larger fps spread for the chrono testing. Ramshot Hunter toned back down to 3200 is what I took my Antelope with this year. Dead on the spot. check out my post.
