Here is what I use in my 220 Swift; 43grns of H414, 40grn V-Max, Federal 205 Match Primer, and Norma brass. This combination, for me, is very accurate and deadly out to 450 to 500 yards. I am lunching the above mentioned combination right at 4200fps.
Iron Worker, go with H414. I am telling you, H414 will work in your 22-250 AI. Your 1-14 twist barrel is ment for the 40 to 50grn pills, any heavier and the 1-14 twist will not stablize the bullet. If your not dead set on the A-Max bullet, try the 40 or 50grn V-Max. I know the A-Max has a higher BC, but I think you will be very suprised with the accuracy and performance of the V-Max bullets. My 220 Swift is used for ranges out to about 450 to 500 yards and the 40grn V-Max does really well. However, if the wind comes up, the A-Max bullet will do better. If the wind picks up while I am shooting the 220 Swift, I am lucky enough to bring out the 6x284. Try this powder and bullet combination, I know it will work in your rig, and you will love what it does to varmints. Wildcat
