What can happen when powder goes bad

I was sorting thru some my powder supply and ran across this. Years ago I put some N133 in a Varget bottle (small amount from friends' supply) for 6 ppc. Never used it all and just let it set. Today it is as pictured. Metal lid totally rusted away, powder smells terrible. Hasn't been 3 months since I looked at it and no moisture introduced. I assume the powder deteriorated and vapors got to lid? Other powders with metal lids within inches of it. Anyone else have this happen?

Boring......could have added it to a canister of tannerite......
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX...lol
I took some older blackpowder out to the rockpit.....just a little more excitement....
I like the old acetylene/oxy combo for lots of noise with no damage....provided you don't contain it. Ever rode around in the back of a pickup with oxy/acetylene tanks, a piece of 6" steel tubing about 5-6 feet long and some Saran Wrap? It will really rattle some windows!
