I have had a few LR kills under my belt but i guess I'll start off with this one. This was my very first West Texas mule deer and I got him the last day of the Texas mule deer season. It was a very windy morning and I happened to spot some animals grazing on the sunny side of the mountain some what protected from the wind. I tried we were spotted and the animals started heading up the mountain. The last time that I ranged him he was 418 yards but went higher up. I'm guessing 430 or so. My spotter called for me to put the reticle on the deers butt to compensate for the cross wind. I squeezed it off and he ran a little higher. I figured I was probably giving too much adjustment for wind so i put it in the middle of the deers stomach. I squeezed it off and bingo! He tried going higher before he came crashing down the mountain. My spotter could not see the buck on camera so he zoomed completely out hoping to catch the shot on video. Fortunately he caught the second shot.....To my surprise when you slow the video.....the deer take about 3 steps before i squeeze off the trigger....At that distance and in real time you cannot see him do that. He basically walked into the bullets path. The wind was throwing off that 7mm Rem Mag 160gr Accubond pill further off than my spotter and I realized. According to the national weather service there was gusts of 50mph that day but I really couldn't tell you since I do not own a wind meter. Here are a few pictures of the trip. </p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/DSC_0136_zps5fht9qlv.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/DSC_0136_zps5fht9qlv.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/DSC_0135_zpspif60nha.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/DSC_0135_zpspif60nha.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/IMG_9496_zpsyudua60y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/IMG_9496_zpsyudua60y.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/IMG_9543_zps0c1wesck.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/IMG_9543_zps0c1wesck.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/DSC_0184_zps3orw8dza.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/DSC_0184_zps3orw8dza.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p><a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/FastHorse2007/media/IMG_9501_zpsnbnhregf.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll5/FastHorse2007/IMG_9501_zpsnbnhregf.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></a></p><p></p><p>If you look closely you'll see the toyota in the background. [QUOTE="7mmRemMag, post: 1160830, member: 14122"] I had not realized that i had not logged-in since 2013! I have had a few LR kills under my belt but i guess I'll start off with this one.
