weaver vs picitiny base?

Hey guys just bought a rifle here on the forums and it came with a two piece warne base system. I know the typical 2 piece warne base is based on a weaver mounting system and i was wondering if that was compatible with a picitiny ring system? specifically would my "picitiny" night force rings work on this existing setup? They seem to mount fine but just want to be sure they are meant to work together so that it can withstand a lot of shooting.

What are the differences in spec between weaver and picitiny if any?

You may have to adjust your ring spacing though.

A true 1913 MilSpec Pic ring should not fit on a true Weaver mount, but a Weaver ring will fit in the Pic mount. The cross bar under the Weaver rings that goes in the slots is smaller in diameter and so is the spacing on the mount.
