SOLD/EXPIRED wanted remington short action

i am planning my first custom build which will be a 260 caliber.
where do you get the actions? can you just buy one or do you have to go buy a complete gun and just gut the thing out?
any help would be great.

There are several ways--

1. Buy a used one on here or gunbroker.

2. Buy a new one, Brownell's sells them.

3. Buy a complete rifle and then try to sell the barrel and stock.

They do show up for sale quite often on this site. You can also look at custom actions that won't need to be "trued", which in the long run may save you money. There are other members here who know more about these things, I'm sure they will chime in.

You may want to consider a long action, the REM700 short action mag boxes are notoriously short.

If you are planning on shooting the long heavy for the caliber 6.5mm bullets, a 30-06 length action may be better for you ...

My 260 is built on a Savage model 110 action which used to be a 270REM, it works great.
