Has anyone used Vectan Tubal 5000 or 7000 in 243Win or 308Win? I'm looking to use it for 70 & 95gn Ballistic tips in 243, and 155 Amax/Scenar & 165 Sierra Gameking in 308.
The prices are extremely advantageous vs Vit or Hodgdon powders here in the UK, but load info seems fairly sketchy.
Regards, Mike

I've had excellent accuracy and speed results with Vectan powders.
With Tubal 5000 for 7mmm-08
And Vectan 7000 and 8000(my favourite) for 7mmRM

It is true that SNP reloading data is hard to find and rather sketchy.
There is one SNP reloading data reference book By "René MALFATTI" witch is even harder to find.
Provide me with an e-mail address and I'll send you my data file containing the official reloading data for the calibres you mentioned.

Many people use tubal 3000 for the 308 with 150 and even 160 grainers.t 5000 also works.

For the 243, t 5000 and t 7000 will do.

I´ll search my info around and post it.

Thanks Artemis for the data.

I tried starting at 41gn Tu5000 (10% down on the 150gn load) with 154 Lapua Scenars in Lapua cases with fed210gm primers (at 2.82" for the magazine). Sooty necks and not great groups at 100m. Steadily increased the load and it came under 1" at 46.5grain, 0.8" at 47 grain. No pressure signs.

My Rem 700VS has a significant freebore, I can't load anything magazine length to touch the lands (except backwards) so like Weatherby's, pressures may be lower than a tight throated barrel. Will try 47.5 & 48 next assuming it will fit in case (close), carefully. Velocities were 45gn 2711fps, 45.5 2737, 46 2766, 46.5 2804, 47 2842. These all plot on a straight line, watching very carefully for sudden velocity increases and any pressure signs.

What's a realistic (in spec pressure wise) max velocity for 154 scenars in 308win?

Will try 155 A-max & 165 Sierra HPGK next.

Cheers, Mike
