Man!! The yotes are putting it on me this season. I am going through a dry spell like no other. I am doing the same thing with the same call I have been using for a few years now. What worked before just doesn't cut it. Even when in vergin private ground. Going out again in the am in hopes to brake this bad luck. Anyone else having a year like this??

I have shot a 1/2 dozen or so but only one I called in. The rest were spot and whack with the LR rigs. Guess I will keep at it. :)

We are in the same boat. Had some luck early in Oct and one first part of Nov but has been dry since. I just got back from thousands of virgin acres as well and nothing. All I can say is the weather is to blame:rolleyes:

Takes just one good day to turn it all around. Wish you luck!

We had two really good snows in December here in southern new Mexico (good snow is it actually snowed). This seemed to help them get out and about more. I have only been On 5 stands but have gotten a coyote in three of them. Crazy thing is, I got all three coyotes at the same stand just on different days. All 3 were males and was only 300 yds from my house. Just have to keep plugging along, try different calls. When a distress call hasn't been working for me, I try howlIng and that seems to work.

Jeff, switch it up alil....throw in a decoy and try slightly different set ups/ hides.....even 20-30 yards difference changes the game if terrain allows....then again I'm a youngan, what do I know..lol...

Broke the black cloud over us this am. Spotted one mousing in a wheat field on the way to the first stand. But the minute we stopped the truck he was in high gear and gone before we could set up for a shot. Coyotes that hang close to raods in T are well educated. :)

Set up for the first stand and started with Lightning Jack at low volume. In about 4 or 5 minutes we had a yote skylined at 500 yards looking down toward the call. I switched to a yotr pup distress and he headed in a full run down toward us. He disappeared behind a hill between us and durring the next few minutes 3 more came over behind him. I called low swithing from the jack to yote pup and two showed up at about 75 yards. But there was sage brush and some trees blocking the shot. They winded us and disappeared.

Next I set up abuot a 1/2 mile up in a new draw. Before we even turned on the call two showed up at about 700 yards and were crossing a hillside. I turned on LJ again and the cows down in the valley spooked and ran. The yotes seen the cows running and promptly headed out.

Then on the way home we spotted another mousing in a field at aout 700 yards. All I had in the truck was the "pray and spray" Stagg AR so I lit him up and made him run. Was kinda fun watching him duck and dive as the 223's at about 1000 yards landed in his general area.:D

At least we called some in. Tomorrow I will hit it again.

We hit the wall this season as well but we dug out all our calls and did some talking with a few dogs till we figured out what combo was the ticket. Then we started racking a few up. gun)
