GP I carry one laminated credit card sized card that has the reticle drawn with stadia lines and one side 6x and other 9x. Under each I simply write in the distances in yards for each stadia at the side. You can make them up for any known elevations and temps. Using the TDS, with 300 WSM, I have exact zeros from 200 to about 700 on the stadia lines at 100 yd increments normally by switching power from 6-9x and 10mph winds with zero clicks. Range, put the stadia on target, and pull the trigger. Does not get any simpler than that. Yep I am pretty much limited to 600-700 and 10 mph winds for exact knowns, but for a 9 lb carry rifle works extremely well. the 300 Hart with a 180 at 3200 fps can go to about 900 the same way using the 6-18x and two powers (12 and 18X). If I wanted to drop to 6x, it would go over 1000 but that is pushing the 6x capability for my taste. Now if I am serious LR hunting from fixed position, then agree out comes the binder of pre-printed charts, windmeter, PDA etc and clicking is the way. However, many here really do not have the guns, scopes, tools or equip or skill yet to go that far but they are wanting to get a clean and accurate kill at 400-600 really. The TDS is premier in simplicity for that with any relatively flat cartridge. Darrel Holland is converting Leupolds to his Advanced Reticle that has dots at 2 or 3 MOA intervals with hash marks in between out to 24 MOA, Mils on top and sides for ranging. Cost is $375 on your scope. That is a super clean and fast system that takes a 300 Rum from 0-1000 with no clicks in zero wind. Any wind hold off on the mil marks or dial it in. BH
