While the Encore gives up points for accuracy to the XP-100 etc., it has more than enough accuracy for medium game hunting at under 300yds. My WORST Encore pistol barrel easily will provide MOA accuracy for me. That's a whole lot better than I can shoot in the field while hunting. They're cheap too. Mark Hampton has hunted and killed game all over the world with an Encore pistol in 308 and that inspired me to get one too. I'm nothing short of thrilled with it and get 2615fps with a 150gr Nosler Ballistic tip handloaded with Varget and that's plenty of power for whitetails and wild hogs. Mine will shoot right at 3/4" at 100yds if I take my time and "steady down" before I shoot. Those are 5 shot groups witnessed by several people and this pistol is box stock except for a 2 pound trigger job. Don't get me wrong... I'd like to have one of those long range whomper stomper XP-100's with a screaming wildcat cartridge for 500yd elk but I just can't afford it now and in the mean time I'm hoping to take whitetail and coyotes with my 308 Encore this year at 200+ yds. I already got my hog... I really don't think you'll ever be disappointed with the Encore pistol and I fully intend to keep mine even when I get an XP-100.
