So last night I decided that since I have not been seeing bucks of shootable size I would buy a doe tag and see if I could punch a hole in one as they come into the field at 1160 yards. i get all set up, and start taking ranges to verify everything is right, I get my rifle all dialed in and I am sitting there, decide to take a few more ranges and....nothing. I usually change the battery in my Geovids once a year buy I hadnt done it this year and well... long story short, i went and found a different spot to hunt where my only shot wasnt going to be over 1k. I only saw a small 2 point.... I have a fresh battery in my binos now so I am gonna be good to go next time I go out.

Amazing how one tiny inexpensive part can take down a whole system....was trying to select from one of my many foul ups to commiserate with, but there are too many.
I believe the space shuttle "O" rings may still hold the record.
I'd say live and learn, but I've lost count of the times I've made the same mistake multiple times. Looking back at your body count this season you've just been too busy actually doing it to, bother with details.

No, all I know about "O" rings is what I read in the paper, I probably could have framed that statement better.

I just got back from Wyoming on an antelope hunt. We were stalking a Booner buck when I went to range him my Leica batteries died. It was a two hour round trip to town and back. I will be more prepared next time.
