Flip, my take on the Bill of Rights is that the founding fathers used that document to enumerate the rights all men were granted by god and country (in that order) at birth. Those rights were god given and not to be infringed upon by government or individuals. Not so much the right to own a submachine gun, but the right to self defense being god given and the ability to do it with the most effective tools availiable ( submachine gun) if need be. Joe, I agree that he greatly miscalculated the backlash that would come from using the bodies of 20 children to build a soapbox to call for gun control. However, it hasn't stopped them, they are just looking for ways to gain seats in congress to shove it down our throats much like using a lame duck session of congress to shove a healthcare package through. Don't ever forget that one....lame duck legislators have nothing to lose. The Democratic superPAC's are currently courting tea party conservatives in KY and offering to spend 7figures to get a candidate to defeat Sen. McConnell. Since when do the dems spend millions on republican campaigns? They're looking for any chink in the armor guys...interesting times...
