I happen to have an older one in the safe. VLS stock has the black tip. Shoots Winchester Supreme 140 gr. ballistic sivertips into 3/4 in. @ 100 regularly...sometimes smaller. The VLS stock was shortened slightly (recoil pad added back) and 26 in. barrel was shortened/recrowned to 24 in. by prof. smith. i don't have a VLS but i do have a ruger laminated varmint with a 25" SS fluted barrel in 7mm-08...will easily put 5 shots under 1/2 MOA
