scope or open sights ???????

Just got my little boy his first pellet gun. It came with a scope. Now the question is put it on or leave it off, and make him learn to shoot with open sights?

My first bb gun was a hand me down from my brother and the back sight had been knocked off, but i learned how to kill a bird with it anyway.

I would take the scope off in the begining so he will learn site alinement
and the proper way to hold the rifle.

You will be surprised how fast he/she will learn.

My son started with a BB gun and the first time I took
him to the range I set him up with some cans and turned
him lose. After a while I noticed he wasn't shooting cans
any more and ask what he was doing. His reply was " just
shooting dragon flies"

So let them learn with iron sites first then later put the scope
on for hunting. If you start with a scope they won't like iron
sites.
