Ruger Youth/compact 7mm-08 Help

My buddy just purchased the gun for his son and was wondering on ballistics since the barrel is so short (16.5"). I looked in my nosler book but the sample barrel on the loads is 26." Anyone have any experience with this gun? He was hoping to shoot the 140's or 120's and unfortunately he does not reload. Thanks fellas

Tell your buddy to buy the 120gr loads from Remingtion.

In the 18.5" model 7 they will exceed 2800ft/sec and not
kick the heck out of him.

Tell him to make sure his son wares good ear protection
because the short barrel will be very loud.

They are also very good on deer size game.
