i'd like to buy a ruger deerfield 44 mag or an older 44 carbine. i've always wanted one of these. i'd prefer the deerfield but wouldn't be disappointed with the 44 carbine.

Good luck, I just got one. They are very cool rifles, mine was made in 73' and is the RS model with the peep sights and tubular magazine. The Deerfield is the iteration from 2000-2006, the model 44 stamped Deerstalker was made 1961-1962. Ruger had to quit using "Deerstalker" due to a lawsuit by Ithaca.
