[QUOTE="GrumpyBiker, post: 574082, member: 39138"] I'm new here & not sure if this us the correct section for it but wanted to share! I just got this Remington 788. I traded a Sig Mosquito .22lr for it ( I think I did pretty good) ! It had some scratches on the stock. Fairly deep ones forward of the bolt handle on the right side. So I knew a refinishing job was in order when I got it! So I stripped it down, I believe it's Birch, and sanded out the scratches & gouges! I mixed up a color stain i thought would look good & laid it down. I finished it off with semi-gloss, spar, marine grade clear. It still needs rubbed out but I wanted to get some pix posted. This is why I was so anxious to get my hands on this one! I love a project!!! Even more so when they turn out as hoped!
