Rem 700 SPS Varmint .243

Looking like a good starting point to start playing with seating depth. I have a 243win with a 22 inch 1:9 twist, ive been playing with berger 95 grain classics. With H4831sc i couldnt break 2800 fps. Accuracy was terrible as well, i switched back to Imr 4350 and accuracy is good and speeds are 2950 fps. I was wanting to try H1000 but i think in the shorter barrel it would be a wash. If you want to get more Retumbo in the case get a 6" drop tube.

I may find myself going down to the 95gr Berger, myself. Time will tell and if I can hit 3,000 fps with it.....it will be my Huckleberry. The BC is great and the numbers, out to 1,500yds make it a legitimate player, closing in on 1 mile.

Maybe I shouldn't be this way, but I am a bit fearful of compressing powder....therefore will shy away from Retumbo.

Yes compressed loads can play hell with seating. I have seen it vary seating depth by .005" it probaly doesnt make a diffrence in some cases but why chance it.

If you really need some speed in that 243, try Hodgdon 100V or RL-26. They are speed demon powders for the 243. I hit over 3000fps with my 25" barreled 243 at sea level with both powders easily. RL-17 will do it as well, but is more temp sensitive.
