Anybody reloading their 6.5-284 using the Barnes 120 gr. ttsx bullet? Having a hard time getting information. Barnes recommended older manual for original 120 gr. bullet. Seems a little off.

There are 2 main 6.5-284 cartridges, the Winchester and the Norma. The difference between the 2 is seating Depth The Norma requires a 30-06 length action, while the Winchester uses 308 length action. If you could let us know which you have, we could toss velocities around and give you a better idea if your velocities are a good ball park representation of that cartridge. It was a wilder than average wild cat, for quite a few years and is also very well known as a velocity trouble maker because of all the differences between chamberings.

roadking, as far as I know Barnes does not make the "Original" in 6.5, it is a specific bullet construction. The last Barnes manual to list the 6.5-284 Norma is volume 3 and does not include the cartridge o.a.l.. If your saying a "little off" means your velocities are about 110 fps slower than advertised, it is perfectly normal for that cartridge to have slower velocites of up to 150 fps. Even sister rifles can have huge velocity variations.
