Im looking to build a long range rilfe in the 6.5x284 Norma caliber and I was wondering what is a recomended rate of twist I should choose. I plan on using an accubond or a berger bullet, somewhere in the 120-130 grain range. I also plan on insltalling a pacnor barrel in 26-28 in length. Any info would be great..... Thanks

I would cHose a 1:8 twist. While it may not be needed for the 120-130wt you are thinking about, it will stabilize the 140 VLD bullets which are the best ballistic performers in this cartridge.

I built a 6.5x.284 last year and I went with an 8 twist. I shoot the 140 bergers but from what I understand lots of guys run them with an 8.5 twist just fine or even a 9. I think if your going to run 120-130's I would go with 8.5. Hope this helps.
