Guys I was wondering, I am going to be getting a Remington SPS tactical in 223 for a truck gun, but I don't like the Hogue stock it comes with, I was looking at the Boyds JRS stock in Cabela's (cheap price) and was wondering how much trouble it would be to open up a factory contour barrel channel to accept the heavy barrel of the Tactical? Will there be enough foreend left to free float my barrel? I am trying to keep this little gun cheap and light.

Boyds makes a varminter stock with a larger forend that has plenty of forend
and the VIP inletting is very good compaired to most.

Also Fajen makes a nice stock for the short action rem call the ace varminter.

The sporter stocks will take a #3 or #4 with out weakening them to much but
not a #5+.

I hope this helped

Thanks but is there a slim forend stock outthere, I was hoping to have one with a little less bulk up front? That is why I wanted to go with a sporter stock and just sand it out, what other options do I have that are fairly cheap?
