Question for the Gunsmiths

The action can be used, but the bolt face needs to be opened up to accommodate the mag case. You can also purchase replacement bolt bodies either stripped or complete that will accept the mag case. Plenty of choices here...

I have a Remington 700 in 30-06, my question is can I use that action for a 7mm mag or a 300 win. mag. ?

you could also leave the bolt as is and rebarrel to a 280 with the ackley
improved chamber. it would produce very close to 7 rem mag performance
with less powder.
that would serve you well as a mid range rifle. then set your goal on a long range performer in 338.
hindsite is always 20/20. aint that right joel?

Good advice on the .280 Ernie.

And yes, hindsight is always 20/20...
