Yep. It’s been taken out of context for sure. Hopping off the 2A for a second, then I’ll get back to it... Pretty sure in the context as discussed, the definition of socialism applies to those who have their hand out, with the expectation some one else will give to them, without them ever having to do anything, even if they are capable of doing something. Some socialists have even warped to “We will take from you so we can have”. That is what is crippling the system. I’ve always been taught “It’s a hand up, not a hand out”. A temporary means of assistance to get you back on your feet. In the case of honest to God disability, or retirement age, I’m not against social care for those people. That was the original intent. I am dead set against the abuse of the program and the sense of entitlement that runs rampant through the programs we’ve established to do good for those in need. People who don’t need it, are taking it, leaving less for those that do. It’s the corruption of the definition of need that is killing the good those programs serve. People are confusing the want for a free ride, with the need for one. At the root of it, is poor personal values, integrity, honesty, a commitment to contribute to, instead of weigh down. Now, back to 2A. It’s utterly bewildering to me what a person can rationalize or justify, due to lack of intelligence, education, or ignorance. The Left seems to have a problem with guns. But not a problem with coat hangers. They see guns as an instrument of evil. But not the tools that perform abortions. Both are tools. One they paint as a villain. Another they support the use of. The tools themselves are not where the evil lurks, but the heart of man. Tools can be used for good or bad, until we start addressing the heart of man, the war will rage on. It all starts with education and upbringing. Get that wrong, and you’ll have what we have today.
