Opinions on Reloader 17

Im loading 67.5 grains RL17 with SMK's 168 grainers getting 3200 fps.Just made my first long range (to me anyways) @ 585 YDS big hog one shot DOA.Im really enjoying the 300 WSM.Iplan to use same load with the Vlds.

I haven't gotten the best accuracy with it but have seen increased velocities.

Hitting over 3100 fps with a 180 grain bullet in my 300 WSM without exceeding the max load listed on Alliants website.

I am yet to try it with 165/168 bullets but I plan to try it.

Working great in a .308 with heavy bullets. Pushing 190's 2710fps w/ 26" barrel. Running 210's 2600fps in same gun.

Zuba, sounds great. Are you using heavy or light bullets? I am interested because I have a 7 mm x 300 wsm in a M700 mountain rifle. 120-130-140 gr have been the best for me using RL19. PM me if you would for your loads for various weights , brands using the RL17. Appreciate it.

Have a great day.

I had some good luck with it today. Wind was calm and temp was around 55 deg F.

Tried 168gr Barnes Tipped TSX in my Remington 700 CDL SF .300 WSM with HS stock and sako extractor. .

I weighed the bullets and all 3 were within .1 grains. Did not weigh cases.

I used brand new Winchester cases and Federal 215M primers.

I seated the bullets about .050" off the lands which in my gun gives a COL of 2.825"

64 gr resulted in an average velocity of 3062 fps and .3" 3 shot group that was a clover leaf. This is the best group to come out of my gun this year.

65 gr and 2x fired Norma cases trimmed to 2.092" gave around 3115 fps and a group around 1.25" although i may have pulled that one.

66 gr and once fired Federal cases trimmed to 2.092" gave around 3160 fps and group of .75".

This is 2 grains under the max load on Alliant's website for 165s.

I stopped here because the wind picked up.

I have shot up to 66 gr with 180s at over 3100 fps before but that seemed pretty warm.
