Excuse me for asking but what is the mil spec- military version mean or what are the specs? I am not familiar with this version. I like the scope and it would fit a rifle I am building right now. Thanks Bill.

It sold. Look on Nightforce website. They are built tougher and a few other things. Not necessary for everyday use, but if your life depends on it then it's a plus.

Edited to say: my post may sound potentially negative to the OP, brother that is not what's intended. I hope folks reading this take it as a warning for future purchases. Anything that could potentially have been owned by the gov (whether local or federal) needs to be investigated first! Remember, you are supposed to be innocent till proven guilty but if you have ever seen a gov investigation of any sort you know you are guilty until proven innocent. -End of statement-

That's kinda weird...these are not sold to civilians, only military and Law Enforcement. Not to the person but only to the Department or the Mil Unit itself via Gov credit card (as per the NF sales department when I was looking to upgrade my Sniper Section's optics from the Leupolds we are issued).

The mil spec version is built with a thicker tube and more robust innards...and not available to civilians. If I knew somebody that purchased one I would want to call NF and run the serial number. If an item like that was ever purchased by the military then it being sold to a civilian would be a No-Go...and is investigated by the FBI.
I sure as hell wouldn't advise advertising it on the internet! I'm not saying the OP is doing something he knows to be illegal, I'm saying he might not know! There is a reason why you never see these for sale in the want adds.
Or, there could be a legitimate story to this...one I would like to hear. If for no other reason other than to get me one.

Contract over-run. They have some on Midway now......I think they are already out. They go quick. You can still see the ad if you google it.

Good to hear. Must have been a big over run on the contract. When I spoke to the mil sales rep he said they don't even like for civilians to know about these! Some people might think I'm crazy but I would take one of these over a S&B PMII or USOptic (two of the toughest tactical scopes available).
I wouldn't hesitate to deploy with my "regular" NXS, just put a hold on any Airborne Ops.

Yeah, that's exactly the type of scenario I was advising against. Even if the OP (Tony) to that post was 100% legit (and I'm not speculating anything) it's not where I would like to be.
