Aside from the quality of the new VX-3s, the beauty of this scope is that there are 2 ways to compensate for bullet drop/windage. With good dope from a ballistics program or chart for your caliber, bullet, velocity, etc, one can use the target knobs to precisely dial in for targets at various ranges with very precision hits. Or, one can use the Varmint Hunter's reticle for fast quick shots at various distances and/or on various targets without taking your eye out of the scope. This is a very versatile scope for the serious marksman. Ideal for a long range varmint rig, but can also be used effectively on big game rifles.
